Thursday, February 19, 2009 10:10:54 AM

Australian test session concluded. Three days at Phillip Island’s circuit, where on February 27th the first 2009 Superbike weekend will take place.
Good weather conditions during the whole session, with air temperature slightly over 30 degrees and asphalt temperature around 50 degrees. Important feature of this track, the wind was never too intense and did not interfere with the riders’ performances.
Max Biaggi got 219 laps in total (91, 57, 71) and has gained his 1’32”59 best time today with race tyres.
On the two previous days he got 1’33”40 and 1’33”70 with race wheels again.
He had a bad fall in the forth bend, yet he was not injured while his RSV4 was seriously damaged. Nevertheless, he could go back to the box and complete the testing day with no problem at all.
Shynja Nakano concluded his session with 222 laps in total (77, 77, 68) and getting his best performance today with 1’32”72, after his l’1’33”59 in the first day and his l’1’33”16 of yesterday with race tyres. The Japanese rider also had a slight slip today, yet with no damage for the bike or himself.
We look forward to see the RSV4 again on track on February 27th for the first test shift of the Australia Superbike Grand Prix.

Biaggi on Phillip Island"These were three very important and profitable days – Biaggi says – we have completed all expected tests with all configuration, so as to exactly understand what kind of problems we should face. Shynja and I have made the same requests and this is the time to make important changes, not immediately of course, though within reasonably short time“.

Nakano on Phillip Island“I’m happy about these three-day tests – Nakano says – good weather gave us the possibility to work very well. To be ready at best for the race I have tested several set-ups, performing tyres and new components. Compared to my last test in Portimao I feel much has improved, though still even much must be done to grow and fight against the very best. No doubt important changes are needed on the bike so that we can be competitive as soon as possible.”
